Finnish rockers Santa Cruz release new single “Moonchild”
Finnish rockers Santa Cruz consisting of frontman Archie Cruz and drummer Toxi Cruz (currently the only members of Santa Cruz) have released a new single “Moonchild” and a video to go with it, which seems to have more ’70s influences than prior material.
Let’s hear it and see it I’ll tell you some more after…
Here’s Santa Cruz and their new single “Moonchild” right here on Hair Metal Mixtape!
That was Santa Cruz and their new single “Moonchild” released just days ago on Feb 19
They almost sound like a completely new band with a new sound. Apparently there has been some lineup changes and apparently a change in sound. This was very 70’s rock like. Their older stuff was definitely more New Wave of Glam Metal or just straight up Hard Rock.
OK, let’s back up for just a sec and give a little back story via wikipedia; Santa Cruz is a Finnish hard rock band formed in 2007 in Helsinki by Archie Cruz and Johnny Parkkonen. The band’s music has appeared in TV commercials for Mercedes-Benz[1] and in sports compilations on ESPN. Vocalist and guitarist Archie Cruz has appeared in “The Local Band” lineup with Alexi Laiho (of Children of Bodom), Olli Herman (of Reckless Love) and Jussi 69 (of the 69 Eyes).
That’s the beginning, now let’s fast forward to right now, or at least the last year…
2018-2019 saw major Lineup changes and then the band released their fourth album, Katharsis, in October 2019, which features lead vocalist Archie Cruz, and producer Kane Churko on all instruments.
2020 up until now entails the following; On 2 May 2020, following a tumultuous break-up with Archie’s fiancé, he left California and headed back to his native Finland throwing plans for Santa Cruz up in the air while Archie dealt with his personal issues… Ero Cruz and others left the band, leaving the future line-up and planning for Santa Cruz uncertain.
On 29 May 2020, Archie Cruz announced on Instagram that he had successfully completed a rehab program.
During the mid-2020, Archie was accepted as a cast member/participant of the reality TV show Survivor Finland (“Selviytyjät Suomi“) due to air in Finland February 2021. After the filming of Survivor Finland, Archie has been writing and recording new music during October / November at Crehate Studios in Gothenburg Sweden.
With new management in place plus a team of American and Swedish Producers / Co-writers Archie continues to compile material for and negotiating a new album expected out 2021.
In January 2021, Archie Cruz announced the upcoming release of his new single, “Moonchild”, and stated that he and Toxy were the only current official members of Santa Cruz
There you have it folks! What did you think? I think it sounds like a lot of drama.

The Mixtape!

Yo. What up Mixtapers? Welcome to the Mixtape. Not much to report on a Tuesday afternoon in Beacon, NY. As a matter of fact, there’s probably no reason to complain. I mean things could be worse, right? Well, I speak for myself when I say this because for some people right now, it’s tough. And for the next person it may be tougher. We all have issues that may seem bigger than others, so remember, what we do have in common is that Livin’ Ain’t Easy.
Here’s Skid Row and something we can all relate to; “Can’t Stand the Heartache” off of their first self-titled, to start off today’s Hair Metal Mixtape!

That was Ozzy with Suicide Solution from the now 40 year old Blizzard of Oz!
Of course, Blizzard of Ozz is the debut studio album Ozzy Osbourne, released on the 20th of September 1980 in the UK and on the 27 March 1981 in the US which will make it 40 years old here in the US next month! The album was Ozzy’s first release following his firing from Black Sabbath in 1979.Blizzard of Oz is the first of two studio albums Ozzy recorded with guitarist Randy Rhoads prior to Rhoads’ death in 1982. In 2017, it was ranked 9th on Rolling Stone‘s list of “100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time”
How about them apples!
